March Madness: Vote for the Greatest Food Song of All Time!
It's the first-ever Snack and Destroy March Madness Bracket... or Snack Bracket... or Snacket?
Welcome to the first-ever Snack and Destroy March Madness Bracket!
There are thousands and thousands of songs about food (and "food"), but which song is the best? It’s time we declared a winner! Why? Because everything is terrible and focusing on songs about pie and sugar and ice cream and pork chops is a decent distraction from doomscrolling.
I surveyed a bunch of friends and Snack and Destroy readers via social media to come up with a list of 64 favorite songs either about food or where food is used as a euphemism.
To decide the seeding, I went with plays on YouTube, either the official video or the most-watched unofficial one, whichever was higher. From there, I broke the list up into four groups. It’s not a perfect system but I feel like it’s better than randomizing everything. Popular songs are up against similarly popular songs and lesser-known (but still good!) songs still have a chance to make it through the first round, you know?
I also avoided songs specifically for children because do you know how many children’s songs there are about food? VERY MANY!
So let’s do this!
The bracket is right here, hosted on Common Ninja. Just click the “Vote Now!” button to get started. One vote per match per round per person, please!
You don’t have to subscribe to Snack and Destroy to vote but it’d be a lot cooler if you did.
Round 1 starts today, March 2, at noon. Voting closes in three days, March 5 at noon. There are YouTube embeds for each song, too, so you can click around and listen to any of the tunes you’re not familiar with. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!
See the full voting schedule below and bookmark the link so you remember to vote in all the rounds, up through the championship on March 17! And follow along on Twitter for updates.
